Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Mark Chill Enterprises, a California corporation ("we", "us"), covering the Crate Runner application and the craterunner.app website (together, "Crate Runner"). By installing the app, starting a free trial, or buying a subscription you agree to them.
1. What you get
A personal, non-transferable license to install and use Crate Runner on one Mac that you own or control, for as long as your free trial or subscription is active. The app requires a license key to run. Each key belongs to one person. You can move the license to a new Mac at any time from the app or from the seat page on craterunner.app; we limit how often a license can be moved to stop a key being shared. Sharing a key, or an installer with a key, is not allowed.
2. Free trial
Your first 100 judged songs are free, with no card, for up to 14 days from the day you start. A free trial needs an email address and is limited to one per Mac; starting further trials on the same Mac by any means is not allowed. When the trial ends the app stops opening until you subscribe. When a trial or a subscription ends, files the app already wrote to your Keepers folder remain yours.
3. Subscriptions, billing, and Paddle
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Paddle, our merchant of record, at $9.99 per month or $99 per year plus any applicable sales tax. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the link in your receipt email or by writing to support@craterunner.app. Cancelling stops the next charge; your license keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, then expires.
4. Refunds
Our Refund Policy is part of these terms. In short: any charge can be refunded in full within 14 days of that charge; after 14 days it is not refundable.
5. Your music
Your music files are yours and stay on your Mac. Crate Runner reads the files you give it and writes copies of the tracks you keep into its own Keepers folder. It never uploads, moves, or deletes your original files. You are responsible for holding the rights to the music you use with it, including your record pool memberships.
6. Community data
Crate Runner sends anonymous judging statistics to us as described in the Privacy Policy. This is a condition of using the app and cannot be turned off. It contains no audio, no files, no personal names, and no file paths.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its license system, not to circumvent the machine limit, not to resell or sublicense it, and not to use it to infringe anyone's rights.
8. Updates and availability
The app checks for updates and installs them automatically. We may change, add, or remove features. We may suspend or end the service, or your license, if you break these terms or if a payment is reversed, disputed, or charged back.
9. No warranty
Crate Runner is provided "as is". We do not promise it will be error free or uninterrupted, or that its ranking will match your taste. You use it at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
10. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost gigs. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. Crate Runner is offered to customers in the United States.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. Continuing to use Crate Runner after a change means you accept it.
